My name is Claire. I'm a counsellor and clinical supervisor, working both in person and remotely from County Durham.
I believe there are many ways to understand human psychology and wellbeing and work holistically with clients, integrating theories and approaches to suit their individual needs. I work in collaboration with clients, offering my commitment to building a therapeutic relationship where thoughts, feelings and behaviours can be fully explored together.
Alongside my private practice, I have worked in the voluntary sector for almost twenty years, counselling individuals who have been subjected to domestic abuse and sexual violence.
I am committed to continuing professional development and have a particular interested in the mind-body connection. I hold a BA in Counselling and my core training included person centred, CBT and psychodynamic theory. I have additional training in Breathwork Facilitation, somatic trauma therapy and trauma informed approaches, EFT, Mindfulness, creative counselling techniques and compassion focused approaches. I am currently studying towards an MA in Psychotherapy Studies, with a focus on working wildly and creatively.
I am an LGBTQ+ allied therapist and my practice is neurodivergent affirming, inclusive and non-pathologising. I am a registered member of the BACP and a professional member of the International Breathwork Foundation. I hold professional insurance, a clear DBS and I am registered under the Data Protection Act (1998).
